| Yesterday, me, along with two other girls were helping a lady to the bedside cammode from her chair. What was supposed to be a stand up - pivot - sit down situation, very quickly turned into a stand up - step forward - and dive for the bed disaster.
It's not a good thing when a 300 lb. lady decides to lunge for the bed while all 105 lb. of you is headed for the opposite direction.
Injuries : some lower back discomfort and a really sore bicep and 10 mintues of extreme irritiation trying to figure out exactly how to fill out an employee incident report form. A - nnoying
I never realized how much the American side of me (as opposed to the Guyana, Barbados, Romania or Brazil side) was so materialistic and selfish, until I left for five months and returned.
Paul said he was content in plenty and in want ... it's not being content 'in want' that I have as much of a problem with, it's being content with 'plenty' when I know people are 'in want' and I don't need so much. I feel guilty.
| I guess it's time for an update ...
I'm home and am in the process of getting a job which looks more hopeful today than it did last week. Goodbye stress.
It's good to be back and in the good graces of family and friends. It is strange trying to find how I fit in but it's been an exciting ride seeing how people have changed (or not changed) etc.
I will admit this - returning from two countries where the people are predominately darker in color, has left me shocked to see all the white people here ... especially near the end of winter. Nothing wrong with being white ...
Things with Tim are absolutely grand. He's just as kind and loving as ever. Tim has said that after 5 months of being apart, we both forgot what it was like to be in a relationship together. It certainly feels like a brand new relationship ... more mature.
Well there's a quick snip. It's hard to get on the internet for more than 15 minutes a day. I just don't like it that much anymore. So sorry for the no replies or lack of communication on my part.
Have a wonderful, blessed day. :)
| Hello Everyone!!
Two more weeks and I'm back in Barbados. Two and a half more weeks and Tim's in Barbados. And .... In three weeks, I'm back in good ol' Lancaster County.
Life has been good here, but I'm ready to come home to see all your beautiful faces.
Til then ... | | |
| Recently I've found myself in a state of confusion.
I'm terribly emotional and positively irrational.
The base is decorated with lots of twinkly lights.
We are having lots of parties with dancing and movies.
Christmas music!
Festive cooking.
Good cheer.
A Christmas Tree!!
Ribbons and bows.
Everyone is laughing and drinking sparkling cider ...
Why am I the saddest of the bunch?
I miss home.
I miss snow.
I miss my car.
I miss moms cooking.
I'm not exactly sure what is going to become of me after DTS.
God is continuing to reveal new things for me to consider.
I was asked to stay as staff for Mission Adventures.
Who knows...
Happy Holidays.

| Hello people. I have decided to come back and say a few words here and there.
Barbados is an interesting country, where the women roam the public
streets breast feeding their children out in the open ... Comfort zones
don't exist here.
Trina's roommate, Ria, took her shoes. When Ria got back from shopping,
Trina, enraged by this point, demanded to know why she had taken them
without asking. Ria's reply was, "They matched my outfit."
Most Americans would be outraged at the act of intrusion on our
personal belongings, but to a bajan, a person from a hot-climate
culture, it's not yours, but OURS. Such a stark contrast of cultures
here.
I just finished making apple cinnamon pancakes. One thing I miss, is
cooking. I miss baking whatever, whenever I wanted. Here the supplies
are limited and you're never quite sure if the stove is going to be
working today.
Before I started cooking, i was excersizing so i still smell pretty bad. Have a good day everybody, I'm going to shower now.
